Reservations, Booking & Arrival

Reservations & Payment

  • Registrant age: The primary registrant must be 21 or older.
  • Deposit: All reservations require a 50% deposit at the time of booking.
  • Final payment: The remaining balance will be charged to the card on file two days before arrival.
  • Site requests: We make every effort to honor your site preference. Specific site numbers are not guaranteed unless you reserved a guaranteed/locked site. Assignments may change due to maintenance, operational needs, or unexpected conditions.
  • Tent sites — length of stay: Maximum 7 nights total in any 30 consecutive day period.
  • Monthly reservations: Rates are “plus metered electricity.” Meters are read monthly and at check-in/check-out. Billed per kilowatt hour as charged by Green Mountain Power.

Cancellation & Refunds

  • How to cancel or modify: Contact us at hello@lakechampagne.com.
  • 30+ days prior to check-in: Full refund minus a cancellation fee.
  • 29 to 8 days prior: 50% refund minus a cancellation fee.
  • 7 days or less prior: No refunds.
  • Early check-out: No refunds for early check-out under any circumstances.
  • After check-in: Cancellations and refunds are not available after your check-in date.
  • Seasonal sites: Seasonal sites follow a separate cancellation policy. Contact the office for details.

Check-in & Check-out

  • RV sites: Check-in 1:00 p.m. / Check-out 11:00 a.m.
  • Glamping sites: Times will be communicated with your reservation.
  • Early or late check-out: May be possible depending on the reservations around yours. The more notice you can give us, the better. Please ask the front desk well ahead of your arrival or check-out day. A fee applies if available.
  • Late arrivals: Contact the office in advance if you'll arrive after office hours.

Guests & Occupancy

  • Included guests: 2 adults and up to 2 children age 12 or under (transient and seasonal sites).
  • Additional guests: A nightly fee applies for each guest age 13 or older staying on the site.
  • Maximum on site: Eight people total are allowed on a campsite at one time. For larger gatherings, contact us about pavilion or picnic-area rental, or your group can gather at the beach (additional guests subject to the day-use fee).
  • Day visitors: Day visitors check in at the office, may stay until 9:00 p.m., and count toward your site’s 8-person total. Maximum 5 day visitors at a time.

On Your Site

Quiet Hours & Noise

  • Quiet hours: 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. During quiet hours, voices, music, and other sounds must not be audible from neighboring sites.
  • Outside of quiet hours: Please be respectful of other guests. Your conversation or music should not be at a level that disturbs other guests.
  • Fireworks and noise-making devices: Not permitted at any time.
  • Generators: Not permitted in the campground.

Conduct & Children

  • Supervision of children: Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising children at all times. Children must not disturb other guests or enter other campsites without permission.
  • Respect other sites: Use walkways. Do not walk through or park on other sites.
  • Speed limit on the property: 5 mph.

Pets

  • Pets must be leashed (10 feet or less) when outside your RV or off your site.
  • Please clean up after your pet.
  • Aggressive or hostile animals will be asked to leave with their owners.
  • Do not leave a tethered pet unattended.
  • Do not leave pets alone in a hot RV or camper.
  • Excessive barking or disruptive pet behavior is not permitted.

Smoking, Vaping & Alcohol

  • Smoking and vaping: Permitted on your own site only. Not permitted in restrooms, showers, indoor facilities, common areas, or outdoor amenities (beach, playground, pavilion).
  • Alcohol: Permitted for adults 21 and older, consumed responsibly. Behavior that disturbs other guests is not permitted.

Vehicles & Equipment

Vehicles

  • Two vehicles per site, total. This includes your RV, trailer, or motorhome and any tow or towed vehicle.
    • A travel trailer plus the pickup that pulled it counts as two.
    • A Class A motorhome plus a flat-towed car counts as two.
    • A Class A motorhome with no tow car counts as one. You may bring one additional vehicle.
  • Tent sites: Two motor vehicles per site.
  • Overflow parking: A per-vehicle rate applies for overflow parking. Contact the front desk for information.
  • All vehicles must be registered at the office on arrival.
  • Vehicle washing on site is prohibited. A $75 fee will be assessed for violations.

Motorized Recreational Vehicles

  • Not permitted on the property: personal golf carts, ATVs, dirt bikes, scooters, hoverboards, mini-bikes, and other unregistered motorized recreational vehicles.
  • E-bikes and electric scooters: Allowed for registered guests. Must observe the 5 mph speed limit. Riders age 16 and under must wear a helmet.
  • Motorcycles: Allowed for registered guests for arrival and departure. Park on your site. Observe quiet hours.
  • ADA-approved mobility devices (electric wheelchairs and scooters) are welcome.

RVs

  • RVIA compliance required. All RVs must be RVIA compliant with the RVIA decal clearly displayed. Homemade conversions, converted school buses, cars, trucks, vans, SUVs, enclosed trailers, former FEMA trailers, and commercial vehicles without an RVIA decal are not permitted. Please confirm compliance before booking.
  • Condition: RVs must be in clean, well-maintained condition throughout your stay. Exteriors must be free of trash, mildew, and visible damage. Tires must be functional and not flat. Awnings, slide-outs, doors, and windows must be operational and in good repair. Lake Champagne reserves the right to refuse any RV that does not meet these standards, or to ask a guest with an RV that falls below them to leave the property.
  • No household furniture on sites.

Satellite, Drones, Pools & Outdoor Showers

  • Satellite dishes: Placed on the right side of your camper, no more than five feet to the right. Coverage is not guaranteed.
  • Drones: Guest drones are not permitted on or above the grounds due to guest privacy concerns. Lake Champagne occasionally operates drones for property photography and goose management, so a drone you see in the air may be ours.
  • Inflatable, portable, and kiddie pools: Prohibited. A $75 fee will be assessed for violations.
  • Outdoor showers: Prohibited. A $75 fee will be assessed for violations.

Fires & Site Care

Fires & Firewood

  • Fires only in the provided fire ring. Do not move the fire ring.
  • Burn firewood only. No trash, food waste, cans, foil, plastic, glass, cigarette butts, or any other foreign objects in the fire ring. A $50 fee will be assessed for violations.
  • Fires must be attended at all times and fully extinguished before you leave the site or turn in for the night.
  • Vermont firewood law: Only Vermont-sourced firewood or USDA heat-treated firewood may be used. Local firewood is available at the office.
  • Burn bans: On dry, windy days a burn ban may be in effect. Check at the office before lighting a fire.

Cleanliness

Guests are responsible for keeping their site clean throughout their stay and leaving it clean on departure. A $50 fee will be assessed for sites left in poor condition.

What “clean” means at Lake Champagne:

  • All trash placed in dumpsters and recyclables in the recycling area.
  • No trash, food waste, cans, foil, plastic, glass, or cigarette butts in or around the fire ring.
  • Personal items, food waste, and litter cleaned up.
  • Picnic tables free of food residue.
  • No broken equipment or debris left behind.

Trash and recycling: Dumpsters and recycling bins are available at the campground office area. Please separate accordingly.

Trees & Hazardous Materials

  • Do not damage trees. No peeling bark, driving nails, removing branches, cutting, or trimming.
  • No hazardous materials on the ground. Do not pour antifreeze, fuel, chemicals, or any hazardous waste onto the ground anywhere on the property.

Lake & Beach

Swimming

  • No flotation devices (inner tubes, air mattresses) in the lake.
  • No swimming after dark.
  • There is no lifeguard on duty. You are responsible for the members of your group.
  • Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult (18+).
  • The lake is for swimming only. No boats, canoes, fishing, or RC boats.

Fishing

  • Fishing is not permitted in the lake.
  • Please inquire at the office for local fishing options.

Beach Day Use

  • The beach is available to non-overnight guests with a day pass or season pass.
  • Visitors must check in at the office and park in the designated day-use lot.
  • All day-use vehicles must display a parking pass issued at check-in.
  • Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • No pets on the beach.
  • We may cap the number of day-use guests on busy days.

Dump Station

  • Location: Across from the campground office.
  • Free to RVs and trailers staying with us, upon departure.
  • A fee applies to dump on arrival or for those not staying at Lake Champagne.
  • Guests are responsible for preventing wastewater from running onto the ground.

Code of Conduct & Liability

Code of Conduct

These policies exist to keep Lake Champagne a safe, welcoming place for every guest.

  • Behavior that violates these policies will result in a verbal warning from staff. If the guest continues to not comply after the warning, they will be removed from the campground without a refund.
  • Lake Champagne reserves the right to refuse service or remove any guest at the discretion of management.
  • These rules are subject to revisions, additions, deletions, or amendments at any time without prior notice.

Liability & Camp at Your Own Risk

  • Camping at Lake Champagne is at your own risk.
  • Guests and visitors assume all risks associated with camping at the property, including but not limited to: use of the lake and beach, fires, weather events, wildlife, terrain, and the conduct of other guests.
  • Lake Champagne, its owners, employees, and agents are not responsible for loss of or damage to personal property, or for personal injury, illness, or death arising out of activities at the property, except where caused by gross negligence.
  • Guests are responsible for the conduct of their children, pets, and visitors.
